Panjim

Panaji is the capital of Goa. It is also serving as the district headquarters of North Goa. Panaji is spelled as different names in different languageslike Panjim in EnglishPonnji in Konkani and Pongim in Portuguese. Initiallyit was a small village under the control of Portuguese till 1961. In 1843Portuguese changed their capital place from old Goa to Panaji as a new name of Nova Goa (Nova mean new). After thatthe Portuguese vastly developed the village infrastructure and gave it in a new look.After Indian independenceIndian Army attacked Goa including this city and totally uprooted the Portuguese controls in 1961. ThereafterGoa was merged with India as a Union Territory. It was decelerated as a state of India in 1987 along with Panaji as the capital of Goa. Panaji is the third largest city in the stateafter Vaco Da Gama and Margao with an area of about 36 km2.

Itinerary

Day 1 Panjim

Arrival & Check-In

Arrival at Mapusa Bus Stand Transfer to Hotel Delta Residency-Calangute Check-In. Evening Time visit Calangute Beach. (The beach is the largest in North Goa and visited by thousands of domestic and international tourists alike. The peak tourist season is during Christmas and New Year, and during the summer in May. During the monsoon season, from June through September, the sea can be rough and swimming is prohibited. The beach offers water sport activities like parasailing and water skiing, among others)

Day 2 Panjim

Tirupati Balaji

Balaji temple nearly -20-kms from panji is worth visiting. The idol of Shri Balaji is enormous and is nicely decorated with ‘tulsi’ garland & other flowers.
